Notifications for android device

By using Gmail app on you’re Android device, you can select how you’ll get notified of incoming messages.

Configure your notifications

If you are using default inbox, notifications are switched on for messages in primary by default.

You can directly choose “which messages do you require to notified about” by making the use of following steps.
Each and every one incoming messages:

1. First of all open Gmail App.
2. Go to the Gmail icon : symbol of Gmail icon=
3. Select “Settings”.
4. Select an “Account”.
5. Remember that “Notifications” is checked.
6. Tap “Inbox sound and vibrate”.
7. Make a Check on “Label Notifications”.
8. Select any option for “how you want to be notified”.
9. Select “Manage Labels” through going back to the previous page.
10. Choose an inbox category like: “Updates”, “Promotions”, “Inbox”, “Social”, or “Forums”.

11. Select “Label Notifications” and select the way you want to get notified about messages with this label.

12. After going back to the previous page, repeat same steps for rest of the inbox labels in case you view them in your list. Note that, inbox labels are available at the above of the pane; however all of them are not used in your account.

Only messages in specific category or labels

You can set a limit on notifications by selecting the messages you care about. For an example some users might only like to be notified about important updates but not the promotions, or only messages with Urgent tag they created.

1. First of all open Gmail App.
2. Go to the Gmail icon : symbol of Gmail icon=
3. Go to the “Settings”.
4. Select an “Account”.
5. Keep in mind that “Notifications” is checked.
6. Tap “manage labels”.
7. Select any of your labels.
8. Go to “sync messages” and select either sync “all” or sync “last 30 days” .
9. Select “label notifications”.
10. Now select the way you want to get notified about messages with this label.
11. Repeat these steps for any label you want to be notified about. You can select different ringtones for various labels.

Remember that, your notifications are on primary; therefore you may need to switch off its notification.

Notifications for only urgent messages:

Take the benefits of Gmail’s automatic significant ranking by switching on notifications for messages tagged as” important”.

Users will get the notification for only important messages by default if they use priority inbox category.

Or if a user use default inbox category, then he must need to follow below steps to switch on notification for their important messages.

1. Open your Gmail app and go to the menu icon.
2. Go to settings.
3. Select account.
4. Keep in mind that “notifications” is checked.
5. Go to “manage labels”
6. Select “important”
7. Go to “sync messages” and select either sync “all” or sync “last 30 days”.
8. Select “label notifications”.
9. Now select the way you want to get notified about messages with this label.
Remember that, your notifications are on primary; therefore you may need to switch off its notification.

I don’t want any sort of notification:

1. Open your Gmail app and go to the menu icon.
2. Go to settings.
3. Select account.
4. Make uncheck on notification.

By doing this you’ll never receive any notification.

Get more knowledge about notification settings

About Sound:
Select any ringtone, or select “none” in case you don’t wish a sound to play.
About Vibrate:

If you want that your device will vibrate for every notification, except when device is on silent mode, and then make a check in front of vibrate. If you unchecked it, then your device will only vibrate when it is in vibrate mode and you may have to sound notification switched on.

Get notification for every message:

If you want to get a notification, every time when a message will deliver in to your inbox then make a check on this button. If you unchecked it, then you would not receive further notifications unless you release the current notification.

Features of notification on Android 4.1+:

With android 4.1 or up, you can 5reply to a message or archive a message directly from notification. In case you don’t get these options for a single message notification, explore the notification by dragging down with one finger.

Remove instead of archive fro m notification:

1. Open your Gmail app and go to the menu icon.
2. Go to settings.
3. Select “general settings”
4. Go to “archive and delete actions
5. Choose “show delete only”

In case you are not receiving any notification, choose one from the following:
1. Keep in mind that sync is on for your android device:
You can switch off sync for all apps at once on various android devices. Regularly there is sync icon switch sync on and off. You might have turned off sync accidently or on purpose.

2. Keep in mind that Gmail sync is turned on:
Open your Gmail app and go to the menu icon. Go to settings. Select your account, and then remember that the box next to “sync Gmail” is checked
